MEEHAN, Margaret Pearl age 90,
New Orleans, Louisiana, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at her home.
She was born in Columbus, Kansas, the daughter of Robert Lawrence
and June Thelma (Ratcliff) Kelley. She was a 1935 graduate of Pryor
High School, Pryor, Oklahoma, and a graduate of Miami University
with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She married Wesley
Meehan May 5, 1943, in San Jose, California. She was an auditor for
the West Side Federal Savings & Loan Association. She was a teacher
at Hamilton Taft High School and Princeton High School. She taught
seventeen years, retiring in September of 1979. She was a member of
the Disciples Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School,
served as a deaconess, and was president of the Christian Women's
Fellowship. She was also a member of the Butler County Retired
Teacher's Association, Ohio Retired Teacher's Association, and the
advisory board of the Emergency Money Fund. She was a past member of
the American Association of University Women, Butler County
Historical Society, Butler County Genealogical Society and Friends
of the Lane Public Library. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence W.
Meehan, Bloomington, Indiana and Kelley P. Meehan (Iska), New
Orleans, Louisiana; and a brother, Fred Nelson Kelley, Corpus
Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, in
1962 by her father, Robert Lawrence Kelley and her mother, June
Thelma (Ratcliff) Kelley in 2000. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to
10:30 AM at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N.W. Washington Blvd, on
Wednesday, February 10, 2010, to be followed by funeral services at
10:30 AM. with Rev. John Longard officiating. Interment will be in
the Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio. The family suggests
memorials to Emergency Money Fund, P. O. Box 143, Hamilton, Ohio
45012, Shared Harvest Food Bank, Inc., 5903 Dixie Highway,
Fairfield, Ohio 45014, Disciples Christian Church, 3401 Hamilton
Mason Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011 or the charity of one's choice.
