SWORD, Pat (Patricia M.) age 73, of Silver Springs, Florida went to the Lord on Oct. 6, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 3, 1937 to the late Harold and Roberta Sword. Pat was a graduate of Iowa Weslyan College, a 50 year member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and was a life member of VFW Auxiliary #1069. She taught at both Taft and Hamilton High School. Pat was an accomplished athlete and was a pioneer in Women's Sports beginning many programs at Taft High School for female athletes. She was inducted into several Sports Halls of Fame. When she retired to Florida in 1994, she was the winningest girls basketball coach in the State of Ohio. Survivors include her sister, Ruth (Vince) Dunlap; brother, Bob Sword; eight nieces; four nephews; fourteen great nieces; eight great nephews, twelve great-great nieces, and five great-great nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 23, 2010, in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Fr. Ronald C. Haft officiating followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
